The Swings of Energy Gates Qigong is a simplified form of the original Qigong Swings process. The complete process includes about twenty types of swings that Daoist Qigong practitioners have used for millennia. Over time these practices were distilled into just three swings to create the optimal exercise for a short set. In this workshop, Bruce will be delving deeper into the Swings of Qigong.
The fundamental purpose of these exercises is not only to make the body looser but to maximize qi and blood flow increasing internal capacities and refining and enhancing the quality of the nervous system. Traditionally martial artists and qigong practitioners would practice swings to learn how to turn the waist properly for applications such as pushing hands and simultaneously build power, smoothness and Qi flow. Becoming proficient in the swings will improve all aspects of your martial arts practice.
Releasing Stagnant Qi and Improving Circulation
A major physical problem of the body is the accumulation of stagnant chi in the body. This can negatively affect mobility, health, and longevity. The opening and closing action in each of the swings can be used to compress and then release the stagnant Qi where it is compromised, breaking it up and moving it through the body. Learning and practicing this will improve the circulation of both Qi and Blood.
What You Will Learn

In this seminar, Master Bruce Frantzis and Senior Instruction Craig Barnes will explain more advanced ways of doing the Qigong Swings and how to upgrade them. Bruce will be doing a deep dive into this short but complex set of exercises focusing on:
- Feeling more comfortable inside of your body
- Learning to compress and store your stagnant qi and then suddenly release and circulate it throughout your entire body
- Releasing and stretching the bodyβs fascia
- Strengthen all the parts of the body that store chi and then release it for better blood circulation, enhancing every major way that blood moves throughout the body
- Releasing the joints of the body
If time allows and depending on the capacity of participants Bruce will also delve into:
- Increasing the smoothness and power of the electrical energy of the nerves so that chi reaches every part of the body
- Enabling all the bodyβs joints to move freely and without restrictions, a prerequisite for effective martial arts and Tai Chi Push Hands
- Applications of the swings in martial arts
- Increasing the power and smoothness of all horizontal and downward strikes and throws
- Getting the energy inside the body to manifest-release and absorb in the hands
- Releasing and healing specific bodily areas β including those that are injured for better longevity
