Without this sales process, most agencies will struggle to survive
I’ve been working in the sales and agency world for 10+ years now and have watched it evolve massively as things like Facebook ads and ClickFunnels have made “starting” an agency significantly easier than in the past.
With that I have also noticed a disturbing trend about the businesses we are selling too…
They have QUICKLY become much more skeptical…
They have been burned by other agencies…
And they are walking around with a massive chip on their shoulder towards marketers.
Ever talk to a prospect and you can feel that they are coming from a place of distrust?
That’s because they have identified you as the exact same as every other marketing agency… which they also did not receive results from.
Ever have a demonstration or pitch with a prospect and afterwards you can just tell they “didn’t get it” and clearly didn’t see the value of your services?
That’s because they cannot tell the difference between you and the 500 other marketing companies who have reached out to them that week.
What you need is to weaponize yourself with a lethal sales process that will first allow you to instantly build differentiation – authority – and respect from these clients… while simultaneously getting them to realize they NEED your help…
…And then give them a presentation that eliminates all objections before they arise and has clients pulling out their credit card on the spot.
Now how does this process work?
There are two crucial steps you must follow in order to execute this process and get the results you are looking for…
STEP 1 : The Qualifying Process
“You never tell the client they need you…
You ask specific questions in away that gets them to
tell you they need you”
First we must build authority and trust with our client… and we do that by asking very specific questions about their business in a very specific manner.
If you don’t ask the right questions prospects will feel as if you don’t understand their business and their niche… and if they feel you don’t understand their business they will never buy.
Next we must get the clients to open up to us about their biggest pain points and problems with generating new customers…
You do this again by asking questions… Here’s a philosophy you need to live by:
Next you learn about their current results and desired results… and why they are struggling to reach their desired results.
This is crucial… You must get them to talk about what THEY think is holding them back from achieving their goals (later on we will position ourselves as the perfect solution they are looking for.)
And the final part of the qualifying process is to discover their motivation to grow their business.
What do they want to do this for?
After we have confirmed their motivation for change… we briefly explain our service offering and setup a time for a presentation to close the deal.
Now we transition to step 2 in the process…
STEP 2 : 1 on 1 Webinar Close
(Your New Secret Weapon)
You might be thinking right now:
“Nik, why would you do a 2 step close? Isn’t a 1 call close the super sexy thing to do???”
Before I go any further let me be clear – when I say 2 step process this is generally done over 2 phone calls. It can however be done on 1 call but you MUST NOT rush the closing process.
Now here is the story as to why I will ONLY do a 2 step closing process…
In 2017 after two years of pounding the pavement I learned how to close clients like crazy using a one call close process.
Initially it was great and we were getting new clients regularly for the first time but after a few months I noticed a big problem.
Our retention was horrible.
We were constantly hearing things like:
“The leads suck”
“Everyone who comes in from your ads is broke”
And on and on it went… with the business owners blaming us for their lack of ability to convert new customers.
And so I spent most of 2018 searching endlessly for how to stop the constant churn – we did all sorts of things to try and figure this out:
⭕ Started a call floor with 8 callers to schedule leads for our clients (lost over 250k on this venture)
⭕ Added in 90 day contracts (this helped but was far from a solution to the problem)
⭕ Spent loads of $$ on high priced account managers hoping they could convince our clients to stay
⭕ Spent over 50k on operations coaches to help streamline our backend
And while these things helped a little bit… I had started to have a feeling that our sales process might be the problem.
This was hard for me to admit to myself as I had always prided myself on our ability to bring on 10-15 new clients a month (which we did for 17 consecutive months around this time)…
…But after analyzing the data and reviewing the sales calls there was too much evidence that our sales process was hurting our retention rate.
I realized that clients were not grasping just how much effort would be required on their end to make lead generation work… and so when they inevitably face-planted the leads – they would blame us…
All because we had not done a good enough job on the sales side of educating the client on how things actually work in marketing.
And to make matters worse sales were becoming harder to come by as more and more marketers were entering the space…
It began to feel like a race to the bottom… where we kept having to lower our fees… and to make everything worse…
clients were churning like crazy
So I went back to the drawing board.
At the time I had invested over 75k into mentors learning more about how to build converting webinars.
And while at this time I had been using a presentation deck – it was more of just a summary of what we were offering vs a full blown webinar.
I had a thought… What if I structured a lethal webinar presentation and strategically positioned it to close 1 on 1 calls?
The idea quickly left my head however as we were to busy trying to keep clients and figure out how to close more deals…
Until one night I was searching YouTube looking for Russell Brunson videos… and I saw one that really caught my eye.
