Chase Hughes – NCI – Authority Behaviour

WHAT MAKES US BECOME OBEDIENT?
In Authority Mastery, we will unpack the exact formula that creates human influence on an extreme level. How do some leaders automatically generate attention, compliance, and extreme levels of âfollowershipâ.
Weâve all seen it, the good and the bad. From Charles Manson and L. Ron Hubbard, to Bill Clinton. People with these traits make anyone near them fall into a totally different reality.
In this course, you will not only learn the specific tripwires that have to be hit in order for someone to feel this way, I will be showing you exactly how to set them all off.
Chase Hughes is a retired U.S. Navy Chief, neuroscientist (Harvard-educated), and globally recognized expert in behavioral science. Heâs the founder of the Neuro-Cognitive Intelligence (NCI) system and author of several bestselling books such as The Behavior Ops Manual, The Ellipsis Manual, and Six-Minute X-Ray. His work is used by intelligence agencies, high-stakes negotiators, and elite operatives.
What Is âAuthority Behaviourâ According to Chase Hughes?
Five Core Elements of Authority
Hughes defines authority through five key behavioral traits that naturally inspire followershipânot just in context of rank, but in personal presence:
Confidence â Trust in your own capabilities; your presence inspires conviction.
Discipline â Self-regulation in actions, habits, and presentation.
Leadership â Ability to influence others through behavior, not just words.
Gratitude (or Enjoyment) â Expressing appreciation makes one more magnetic.
Enjoyment â A positive, resilient mindset creates a compelling aura.
These traits, when embodied, create a âmagnetic” presence that naturally attracts and influences others.
The Authority Assessment framework
Hughes offers an Authority Behavior Inventoryâa structured self-assessment to evaluate how well one embodies these traits. Each trait is rated from 1 to 5:
1 (âBurdenâ): Behavior detracts or undermines authority.
3 (âPositiveâ): Behavior is constructive but not consistent.
5 (âContagiousâ): Behavior is so resonant that others unconsciously emulate it.
For example, in the confidence dimension:
A âburdenâ score might stem from shyness, indecision, or self-doubt.
A âcontagiousâ level reflects someone who converses boldly, embraces criticism, sets clear goals, and it influences others to match their composure.
In Summary
Chase Hughesâ model of authority is less about hierarchy and more about internal masteryâbeing composed, intentional, and influential, through authentic behavior.
